iphone confessions...

Here is a happy dog just for you.

It's only 11 am and I'm already bored.

I thought googling Kevin and Danielle Jonas would entertain for at least an hour but well, here I am. I think their new show is adorable. Is anyone else completely terrified of that Jonas mom? I would totally live in New Jersey if I could have that house. I'm already bored writing this.

Last night I thought I should heed my own advice and read the Bible. Being too lazy to get off the couch, I reached for my beloved iphone. I know they say material possessions cannot satisfy our needy hearts but the iphone presents a pretty good argument. So I decide to sign up for one of those daily reading programs on the Bible app (the Bible app!). I had a quick daydream about becoming a more peaceful and Holy woman thanks to the Bible app.

"Carrie you look so radiant lately. Are you pregnant?" says everyone.

"Oh no", gently tossing my hair, "I'm using the Bible app."

"Carrie, how do you respond to life's hardships with such grace and eloquence?" asks everyone.

"Well ladies", we all lean in, "I'm using the Bible app".

My husband asks why I'm staring at the wall and I remember I'm supposed to be reading the Bible.

Thirty minutes later I had yet to decide which program to use. There were so many variations of the same thing that I naturally needed to look into every single one. It turns out the iphone can turn even The Holy Book into a dark vortex of distraction. And then my password was incorrect, another 10 minutes of fiddling, husband helps me, I decide on a Corinthians reading thing and realize day one means reading the first two chapters. The housewives would be on in 2 minutes. I didn't have time. I went on Facebook.

But! This morning I read the verse of the day (a much easier Bible app endeavor) and it's a good one.

"Praise the Lord; praise God our savior! For each day he carries us in his arms."
Psalm 68:19

Thank God.
